"Freedom" ... of Information - moving to the BBC ?

Following previous blogs about the relationship, lack of independence and the application of Poweromics by the BBC (as well as Parliament), MP's are now asking questions about the lack of openness and scrunity of the pay awards/contracts being handed out by the BBC ...

... they are also paid with tax payers money (via the licence fee) and as such they should be working on our behalf ... so, whilst entertaining us, they should also be carrying out open, effective and investigative journalism ... rather than 'headline grabbing', 'celebrity chasing' and 'emotional outburst creating'.

Jeremy Paxman, a very able and capable journalist, pointed this out way back in 2007 in a keynote speech to the whole industry... few stood up with him (or against him!) ... I wonder why ...? Too close to the truth? Too much too lose ? ...

We welcome the expansion of such scrunity - indeed we expect nothing less. Many in the BBC do indeed live in a similar 'world'/'club' to MP's ... nb taxpayers pay BBC salaries, but the Government decides if/how much we pay the BBC ... has anyone noticed how when Gordon Brown wants to speak to the country it's nearly always on Sunday morning and with a 'tame' BBC reporter (i.e. and not with journalists like Jeremy Paxman ot Jon Snow).

Let's keep the pressure on MP's and the BBC ... as Poweromics is a 'disease' that needs to be addressed ... there is a cure, but Ignoromics has to be tackled first ... people need to realise they have more 'power' than they realise ... as long as they are prepared to stand up and join together ...

The internet is already changing communications, and business ... but it will also change 'politics' and 'economics' too ...
